Sensitive

Why would anyone want to become more sensitive? Some thoughts...

After I decided to nix refined sugar and processed foods from my life, one thing I noticed after some time is that I have become sensitive- to tastes, to sweetness, to subtleties in food and to the feelings in my body. Becoming sensitive has allowed me to feel a greater connection to what is happening on the inside when I eat- a real sense of energy levels, intolerances, mood changes and digestion. Fruit now tastes like candy, and my body craves the feelings of real energy and easy digestion over any formerly tempting treat. I have power over my mood and do not feel enslaved to the rush and crash of rising and falling blood sugar. Even deeper, lifting this veil of chemical reactions allows more energy to fuel creativity, inspiration, and intuition. This beautiful sensitivity is that of the body, but also of the mind and soul.

Now that I know what this clarity feels like, I could never go back. But often there is a block that will keep people from embarking on the journey to release the attachment to whatever it is they know isn't agreeing with their body- sugar, wheat, dairy, processed foods, etc. Knowing that not eating something heightens sensitivity to how it feels to eat it, they ask, "Why would I want to make myself more sensitive?"

Becoming sensitive is not about becoming weaker or sabotaging the body. Moving away from foods that lead to inflammation, addiction, discomfort, unstable mood, and digestive problems means we are truly listening to and honoring our bodies' internal wisdom. By choosing the foods that make us feel energized, strong, healthy and resilient, we become sensitized to the deeper feelings of vitality and bodily intuition we may have not known were possible.

Less stress and inflammation caused in the body means that less energy is needed for repair and maintenance, and more is freed up to fuel the greatest pleasures of life- joy, creativity, gratitude, love and the emotions that contribute to a higher vibration. When we become sensitive we are easily able to say "no" to what robs us of energy, and choose only what adds energy to our bodies and our lives.

Sensitivity is not a burden; it is a gift. When we allow ourselves the gift of inner knowing, we connect with the true wisdom that guides us toward our greatest experience of this life. In choosing between sensitivity and ignorance, sensitivity leads me to the best choices and highest experience of life, every time.
